ClassSync App Settings

Find School Identification Codes by Country

NCES : National Center for Education Statistics Search For Schools and Colleges (ed.gov)

Enter the following items in the ClassSync app settings screen: District ID, District Name, School ID, School Name, Start Grade, and End Grade.

Only users who have either Global Administrator or User Administrator permissions and are assigned a teacher license can log in and complete the initial setup in ClassSync.

It is recommended to use official NCES data for accuracy. However, the app does not validate the values entered for NCES IDs or school names, so users must ensure correctness manually.
When you click the “Register to use the school domain” button, the entered settings are saved.

Code Example

  • District ID : 2900017 / District Name : Academie Lafayette
  • School ID : 290001703331 / School Name : Academie Lafayette Armour Ims
  • Start Grade : 06 / End Grade : 08
  • Enter initial password

  1. This seems like a straightforward process for setting up school data in the ClassSync app. I wonder if there are any specific guidelines for entering the NCES IDs and names to ensure accuracy. How often does this data need to be updated to reflect changes in school information? It’s great that the app integrates with Microsoft School Data Sync, but I’m curious if there are any common issues users face during this process. Do you think this feature could be further simplified to make it more user-friendly? Also, is there any support available for troubleshooting if something goes wrong? Overall, it looks like a useful tool, but I’d love to hear more about its reliability and ease of use in practice. What’s your experience with it?

    • 🏫 NCES IDs and School Names: Guidelines for Accuracy
NCES ID Entry: If you’re in the U.S., the NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) ID is a unique identifier for each school. ClassSync typically requires this for accurate mapping in SDS CSV files.

🧩 Can the SDS Feature Be Simplified Further?
Yes, and it’s something many schools appreciate. ClassSync already simplifies SDS by:Auto-generating SDS v2.1-compliant CSVs.

    • 1. Accuracy of NCES ID and Name
ClassSync allows users to manually modify NCES IDs and school names as needed.
However, if the NCES database returns a valid ID and name for a school, we recommend using the official values to ensure consistency and accuracy.

      2. Updating to Reflect Changes
2-1. If You Are Using Microsoft School Data Sync (SDS)
When roster information managed through ClassSync is updated, generate a new SDS CSV 2.1 file and upload it to Microsoft School Data Sync. This will apply the changes across your Microsoft 365 environment.
      – Roster : https://classsync.io/?p=314
      – SDS CSV 2.1 : https://classsync.io/?p=293
2-2. If You Are Not Using School Data Sync and Only Managing User Accounts
Use the management features provided on the Create Cloud OneIDs screen.

  3. This process seems clear, but I’m curious how user-friendly it is for someone setting it up for the first time. Are there any detailed instructions or tips for ensuring the NCES IDs and names are entered correctly? I wonder if there’s a built-in validation feature to catch errors. The integration with Microsoft School Data Sync is a great feature, but how seamless is it in real-world scenarios? I’d love to know if there’s any feedback mechanism for users to report issues or suggest improvements. Lastly, how often does the app prompt users to update this data to keep it current? Have you encountered any challenges while using this feature?

    • ClassSync is user-friendly for first-time setup, especially for IT administrators. For accurate NCES ID and school name entry, users should refer to the official NCES database. While ClassSync includes basic format validation, it does not include NCES data verification.

Microsoft SDS integration is smooth when using ClassSync’s auto-generated CSV files, though issues like domain mismatches or manual edits can occur. To avoid problems, it’s best to use in-app tools only.

Users can report issues or suggest improvements via email (ClassSync@dongseo.com). The app doesn’t automatically prompt data updates, so schools should review and refresh data at the start of each academic year or when changes occur.

In practice, ClassSync is reliable and easy to use. Some users may face minor challenges during domain setup or SDS sync.
However, SDS includes built-in validation features that help users identify and resolve issues independently.

I wonder if there’s a way to validate the data before finalizing it to avoid errors. The integration with Microsoft School Data Sync sounds promising, but how often do users encounter issues during the process? It would be helpful to know if there’s a support system in place for troubleshooting. Do you think this feature could be made more intuitive for first-time users? Overall, it seems like a useful tool, but I’d love to hear more about its reliability in practice. Have you found it to be a smooth experience overall?

    • 🔹 User-Friendliness for New Users
ClassSync is designed with simplicity in mind. The interface guides users through setup with intuitive steps and minimal technical jargon. Even users unfamiliar with Microsoft SDS or Google Classroom can follow the process with ease.

🔹 ID and Name Entry Tips
In ClassSync, the School ID and School Name are used to distinguish schools when generating Microsoft SDS v2.1 files. It is important to use the official school codes assigned by each country or educational authority.
⚠️ Please note: ClassSync does not include a built-in validation feature to check whether the entered values are valid. Users must ensure accuracy manually.

🔹 Microsoft SDS Integration – Any Delays?
While integration is generally smooth, delays can occur if:
      – CSV files contain formatting errors.
ClassSync minimizes these risks through its built-in file validation and the sync status indicators provided by Microsoft SDS.

      🔹 Support Availability
📧 ClassSync@dongseo.com Our team will assist you with troubleshooting and resolution.

      🔹 School Data Update Frequency
When changes occur in the roster managed by the school, a new CSV v2.1 file should be generated and uploaded to Microsoft School Data Sync (SDS). This action triggers synchronization across Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft 365 services connected via SDS, ensuring that all user and group data remains accurate and up to date.
